Over the last year, in the context of the pandemic, DCN responded quickly to specific needs and trends by educating and informing global audiences and engaging in campaigns to combat disinformation, fake news, and conspiracy theories. DCN Professionals from different countries explored trends and methods to combat disinformation, developed alternative narratives, and encouraged a truth based information flow.

This year we will continue to organize virtual discussions, webinars and trainings and hope that in-person activities will also become increasingly possible. We have ideas for new content formats and we will try to offer a great range of opportunities.

Some of DCN’s Upcoming Projects:

  • Online Conference “Digital Skills in the COVID Era” | On February 20, the Belarus Digital Skills Coalition will host an online conference which will be held as part of Digital Skills Month. The focus is on digitalization, media literacy and education. The conference is organized by the Digital Skills Coalition Belarus of Belarusian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, Digital Communication Network in partnership with Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, private educational establishment “Stembridge” , Hrodna Media Room, the Youth for Sustainable Development initiative, the EcoLife Leisure Center for Adults and Children, the Equal Opportunities NGO.
  • “Fighting Disinformation and malign influence” | Series of webinars with DCN researchers
  • “Serious Games against disinformation and for Media Literacy” | Series of webinars with DCN experts in partnership with Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, “Factitious” Game developers, Games for Impact, Polish National Film Archive — Audiovisual Institute (FINA).
  • “DCN Against Disinformation” | Social Media Campaign, highlighting disinformation trends related to COVID19 vaccines throughout Eastern Europe and the Balkans. DCN will prepare a report “Disinformation Trends”, addressing newly emerged platforms where disinformation and malign influences might find their way to the general public.
